First Fly Blanks Are Approved!

Putting some heat on a fly blank. Now approved!

Looks like we are “go” on the first NFC fly blanks! We have what we are calling “Classic Trout Fly” (CTF) in 864, 905, 906, and SSF (Salmon & Steelhead Fly) in 967 and 968. We are also currently building and testing CTF 802, 803, 804 and 904 designs, as well as SSF 966 and 969. All of these blanks are currently two-piece designs.

The CTF 864-2, 905-2, and 906-2 all fall within the same approximate action range (AA 62), which has proven to be popular with those anglers looking for “classic” moderate-action trout rods that have deeper flex and some power in the tip. The SSF 967-2 and 968-2 both fall in an AA66 range, which is faster than the CTF sticks, but still comfortable for most anglers to handle in “real world” fishing conditions.

The ERN numbers all fall within the expected ranges for each “weight” of rod (e.g. the 905 falls between 5.0 and 5.99). Exact figures will appear on the blog shortly, but you can be assured that a CTF “5″ really does fall in the ERN5 range, and an SSF “7″ really does fall in the ERN7 range.

Blanks should be ready as soon as the patterns can be slotted into production. If any builders are interested in the blanks listed, drop us an e-mail so we can get a better handle on initial production numbers. Thanks!
